In December, our community project in Kouroussa prefecture, in the east of the country, closed its doors. For over five years, we had worked with communities to develop activities to tackle malaria, malnutrition, and other diseases among children. In addition to working in health centers, MSF trained and equipped health workers and volunteers in the community, with the objective of improving detection, treatment, and referral systems for children with malaria and other diseases.
We also provided care in response to two outbreaks of Lassa fever and one outbreak of measles in 2022, while advocating for the World Health Organization and the Ministry of Health to initiate a vaccination campaign.
