MSF's Newest Survivor of XDR-TB Shares His Last Treatment

"This disease is for heroes. If you can fight this, you can stand anything in this world." Siyabulela Qwaka is the latest patient cured of extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis (XDR-TB) in the Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) project in Khayelitsha, South Africa. His story is an inspiration for patients currently fighting drug-resistant strains of TB. The existing drugs to fight these strains are of limited effectiveness and they produce terrible side effects.
