Global Fund Adopts New Grant Model

GENEVA/NEW YORK, SEPTEMBER 14, 2012—At its meeting today in Geneva, the board of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria approved a new funding model, which avoided imposing caps for countries applying for funding. In November, the board will decide on further details pertaining to the new model.

"In deciding a new funding model, the Global Fund thankfully rejected efforts to enforce caps on country proposals to address HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria. Going forward, the Global Fund and affected countries need to make sure any further decisions do not impose unfair limits on disease-fighting grant proposals that could help save lives and prevent illness," Lynch said.
